KKJ highly values the need to balance acceptance with hard work when striving to make important life changes through therapy. Family dynamics shape how we choose relationships and deeply affect our own sense of self within relationships.
It matters not what road we take but rather what we become on the journey.
We use an active, problem solving counseling approach to help you develop a plan for action. KKJ highly values the mind-body connection. This can be explored in a variety of ways including health and stress management techniques, mindfulness, and collaboration with other health care and holistic providers.
Knowing that people need an individualized approach, we utilize well-known therapy techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). More broadly, we also utilize Family Systems, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Interpersonal and Multicultural approaches. Visit our Resource Page for a description of these therapies.
Working with children and teens in therapy requires a delicate balance between confidentiality for the youth and a good working alliance with parents. We offer separate parent therapy sessions for feedback and guidance as well as a brief check-in time with parents at the beginning or end of a child session.
Therapy must be a good fit between professional and client. If KKJ is not the right fit for you, we can make referrals based on our knowledge and working relationships with others in the community.
