Cheryl Phillips, Intern

Cheryl Phillips

I am intern working towards completing my M.S. degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am supervised by Dr. Katrina Kuzyszyn-Jones and Dr. Julianne Ludlam. I may be assisting with an evaluation or seeing you to provide individual or group services.

I have experience providing psychotherapy for adults with concerns stemming from chronic pain and related conditions. Additionally, I have worked with children and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, supporting the creation of healthy habits and helping them learn to navigate the world in a way that makes sense for each individual.

I take a collaborative approach to counseling and understand that each person is unique and deserving of individualized care. I understand that people are complex and affected by the world around them in a number of ways. I take a strengths-based and person-centered approach, and I am eager to connect with each client in a meaningful way. I strive to provide a safe and empowering space for clients of all backgrounds. I value authenticity for myself and my clients. I use techniques from a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based practice.

From Cheryl:
Outside of the counseling space, I enjoy hiking and connecting with nature, cooking and baking, spending time with my cat, and exploring the greater triangle area.
