Sometimes, life can throw a lot at you. It can be overwhelming and seem impossible to work through a myriad of complex feelings. Therapy can be the place for you to explore your feelings in a safe, nonjudgmental, productive way. From stress management to anxiety- from complex trauma to coping skills development, I am committed to partnering with you and reaching your personal goals.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling from Wake Forest University and am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina. I have five and half years of experience working with children and adolescents and their caregivers.
My work at KKJ revolves around providing individual and family counseling services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I also offer these services for Spanish speaking families. I have experience working with individuals to develop their impulse control, emotional regulation, and coping skills. When working with kids in this capacity, I believe collaborating with a child’s parents/guardians is extremely necessary. We will come together to support your child and implement strategies at home and even in the schools.
As a Black woman, I recognize the unique experience that comes along with navigating a world drenched in systemic racism and sexism. I strive to create a comfortable space that empowers BIPOC folx of all ages to share their stories, process their trauma, and see the beauty in their identities.
My role is to come alongside you and provide a welcoming space for you to process whatever is going on in your life. As a counselor, I believe that everyone has the tools to heal themselves from within and our work together will unearth those tools and use them in a way that enhances your life. I empower my clients to confidently navigate the world, and I consider it a privilege to be a part of your journey!
I am also the practice's Multi-Media Manager, so contact me if you would like to be added to our newsletter list!

From Mackenzie:
"One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou- 'My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.' These words serve as a reminder that life is a gift and reiterate the importance of self-care. Life can be draining sometimes, so when I feel myself shifting into survival mode, I try to find activities that ground me and bring me relief- even if just for a moment. I have learned that taking even five minutes during my day to be mindful and show myself grace make can make all the difference. I take care of myself by cuddling with my pets, listening to audiobooks, and spending time in nature."
